About
Brooklyn-based Control The Sound are a genre-bending group whose roots trace back to an elementary school talent show when singer and guitarist Elijah Frechtman and drummer Carter Nyhan were just 9-years-old. They started fusing their own unique sounds before recruiting Elijah’s cousin Audrey Frechtman on bass and vocals. Through over a decade of performing, Control The Sound has over 100 gigs under their belt. They have played on some of the most iconic stages including Brooklyn Steel, Brooklyn Bowl, The Apollo Theater, Rockwood Music Hall, The Bitter End and many more. They have opened for acts such as Questlove, The New Mastersounds and, The Cat Empire.
Control The Sound has fine tuned their sound into a unique blend of hip-hop, rock, jazz, and blues. Influences of The Roots, Kendrick Lamar, Stevie Wonder, Childish Gambino and more can clearly be heard in their music.
Control The Sound has made a name for themselves in the New York City music scene through the addicting lively sound and energy. It’s impossible to not have a good time while watching the group jam on stage, feeding off of each other’s joy for the music and sending it right into the crowd.
